Hallo,

Hello and thank you for your splendid site: you certainly have done nice restoration/restyling works and it is very kind of you to share your knowledge with us.
I would also like to ask you one question: I have two Comets leaking gas from the inlet valve. You mentioned creating a special tool to open it. Could you describe it in more detail, or even take a couple of pics? I would also thank you for any additional piece of information on the subject.
Thank you for your time and, once again, for the very interesting site.

Dear Mr. Snelders,
In your "Ronson Repair" page you mention a cleaning powder you mix with hot water to clean the lighter. Could you please clarify what is this cleaning powder?
Also, I got a Ronson Varaflame Adonis from my father and we are trying to estimate a manufacture date. I have researched the net and found several pictures like ours (in you web site) but this one is all gold in color which we haven't seen any pictures of. Do you know if this is gold plating or is it brass that is clear barnished? The finish os so perfect that I was tempted to say it is gold plating but then notices a little bit flaking of a varnish like coating on the lighter so it is probably brass.
Thanks for you web site. It has been very informative.

Referring to your Workshop web page, picture #2,
the area of the bottom arrow, I'm assuming that
is the inlet valve. It is leaking now as soon
as I put butane in it. I opened the case and
the screws and adjusters at the bottom are soldered
into the inner body of the lighter. How can I get
to the other side of the inlet valve? If I can
get to it, what should I look for? A rubber seal,
etc.? It does take in butane and even holds it
for a half of a day but it runs out very quickly.
I replaced the spring and rubber shield inside of
the lid to mke sure that it is not leaking out of
the top. I can hear it leaking out of the inlet
valve or the area around it. I didn't see any
leaks around the solder. I am always grateful for
your expertise and advice. Thank you. |
